KUWAIT: Police detectives solved a number of cases that were shelved involving unidentified culprits by arresting two citizens for impersonating as detectives and for robbery. Case papers indicate that detectives had received several reports about robberies in various areas and that investigations led to two citizens who confessed and pleaded guilty as charged. Moreover, one of the two suspects was found wanted over drugs and financial claims. Both suspects confessed to impersonating as police detectives to commit robberies in Farwaniya, Rabiya, Firdous and Jahra, taking the total number of cases that had been shelved and were reopened to eight.
Municipality crackdown
Kuwait Municipality’s public relations department announced closing down a store by the Capital municipality inspection teams for operating without a license. The department added that as part of the ‘Your Health Matters to Us’ inspection campaign on various foodstuff stores including those selling Girgian items, the Capital inspection team closed down a store in Shuwaikh for operating without a license, confiscated and destroyed 10 kg of nuts and filed nine citations including for selling expired foodstuff and hiring laborers without having proper health certificates. The department also urged all consumers to report any expired foodstuff by calling the hotlines 139 or 1855555.
Traffic campaign
Traffic police launched several inspection campaigns in various areas around Kuwait during the period of June 12-18, said security sources. The the campaigns resulted in filing 34,201 tickets, impounding 1,463 vehicles, arresting 73 motorists, referring seven expats to deportation for driving without a driver’s license and finding eight vehicles that had been reportedly involved in robberies.
