KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah meets with British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond, in presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Bayan Palace yesterday British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond and the accompanying delegation.
The audience was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-hamad Al-Sabah, as well as Deputy Minister of the Amiri Diwan Affairs Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah.
Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled meanwhile met separately with Hammond to discuss means to develop bilateral relations on all possible spheres, as well as on issues pertaining to regional and international developments.
Lebanon’s former PM
Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir received former Prime Minister of Lebanon Saad Rafiq Al-Hariri. His Highness the Crown Prince, Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled , Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah and Amiri Diwan Advisor Mohammed Dhaifallah Sharar attended the meeting. His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem later met with the Lebanese guest as well. Separately, His Highness the Crown Prince received chief of the National Security Bureau Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
GCC Summit
In other news, His Highness the Amir and his accompanying delegation are set to leave to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia today to partake in the 16th GCC leaders’ consultative summit. Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz is set to head the meeting today in which Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)’s leaders are set to discuss crucial topics of mutual concern. The summit, held since 1999, will discuss joint cooperation in politics, economy and security as well as the recent regional and international developments including the Syrian crisis, the conflict in Yemen, and the nuclear deal.
In another topic, His Highness the Amir sent yesterday a cable to King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain, expressing his condolences and sympathy over the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Ahmad bin Mohammad bin Isa Al Khalifa. His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister sent similar cables of condolences to the Bahraini Monarch. – KUNA
