KUWAIT: Local author and poet Nejoud Al-Yagout launched her latest collection of poetry ‘Ounces of Oneness’ at Alshaheed Park on Wednesday. “This event is a modern poetry reading with modern technology for visual purposes. I usually collaborate with directors and they bring the poetry to life somehow. This event is also a book launch of the second edition of my first book ‘This is an Imprint’ and my third book ‘Ounces of Oneness’, which is my new book,” Nejoud Al-Yagout told the Kuwait Times.
“Ounces of Oneness is about the spiritual journey, the mystical journey, uniting people from all races and religions and looking beyond our surface. People are not tolerant one of another so I want to break those barriers and tell everyone that we are one. And from here came the name of my book to find the oneness in everything and everyone,” she explained.
KT: What inspired you to write the books?
Al-Yagout: Well I had no choice, when I was a teenager I just had to write and I never dreamed to be a poet, it wasn’t my goal. But when I was in 13, I start writing without knowing. First I was writing fun songs and then fun poetry, and since then I haven’t been able to stop writing.
KT: What are you preparing next?
Al-Yagout: Right now I’m focusing on videos more. And hopefully another book will come soon but I don’t know when, I have no plans now. All my videos are on my Youtube channel and my website.
Al-Yagout also released earlier her second book ‘Awake in the Game of Pretending’. Her books are available on Amazon, FriesenPress, iBooks, Barnes and Noble and most online retailers. Locally, you can find her books at Dar Nur, Q8 Bookstore (Dar Yarmouk), Jarir Bookstore and CAP Gallery. She is also on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Goodreads.
